1 Corinthians 1:26 – August 27, 2022

Consider your own calling, brothers. Not many of you were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. 1 Corinthians 1:26 NABRE

Paul writes to the community at Corinth, a community that is very alive and passionate, needing constant care and correction by all appearances. Paul wants to speak to them about the people who are called by God to be in community. Others in the community can look around and notice who they are surrounded by, they are not elite, rich, noble or anything special by human standards. Paul will go on to say God uses the foolish to confound the wise and the weak to shame the strong.

We can understand this thinking, those who are rich, independent and desiring of doing things on their own could never give control to God. They have to believe in themselves and their own ability to accomplish success. God is present for all beings, but only those who call on God will recognize His presence. We can easily notice more churches in places of poverty and need. When we can’t obtain on our own we naturally seek out God. And from the beginning God has been present fully to those who are in need. Need can come in all shapes and sizes, regardless, God is there to help. Don’t be alone, know it takes others and God to attain true success.

Do you like to be in control? Are you able to give the future over to God?

Need can come in all shapes and sizes, regardless, God is there to help. Don’t be alone, know it takes others and God to attain true success. Click To Tweet
