Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavens, Ephesians 1:3 NABRE
Paul opens his letter to the community at Ephesus repeating the word blessed, it is a word signifying a divine favor or grace. God is blessed, Christ is blessed and we are blessed. Paul speaks of us the follower of Christ in the same authority as the presence of the Father and Christ, we are similarly blessed. Paul is aware God thinks so highly of us that we are especially favored in His eyes. Our blessing is every blessing in heaven, the spiritual realm where God resides, which includes where we reside. It is an amazing prayer with such bold expression, all those who read or hear the letter know that in God’s mind they are so very favored.
It is this idea that should lead our prayer, to ask God when we have a need. God, please take away the flaws in my character, please remove my anxiety, help me find peace. We should put a top priority on humbly asking God to remove short comings and realize we are speaking to the Creator of the Universe, who is listening, and wants to favor us. We are not saying words so we know what to do for ourselves, we are speaking to God, someone who wants to help and can help. God’s blessing on us is fully to provide us with all spiritual goodness here and everywhere. Take your prayer to God, trust God will hear and will provide for you the best there is for you in your life.
