Luke 24:5 – April 16, 2022

They were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground. They said to them, “Why do you seek the living one among the dead? Luke 24:5 NABRE

Luke tells the story of disciples going to Jesus’ tomb after the Sabbath ends to anoint Jesus body and use special species to send Him off. Arriving they find the tomb is open, with two men there in dazzling clothing, who scare the disciples. Their aura must have been angelic as the disciples bow respectfully. The men ask a question that is as important today as it was in the moment, why look for the living one among the dead. Of course Jesus has told His disciples He will be killed and rise again, however this was so far from anything the disciples understood they did not understand Jesus’ physical body would be gone, and if these two men are to be believed, alive again. The disciples are confused and return from where they came telling others what they heard about Jesus. Other disciples hearing their story, which is likely told with great enthusiasm, is met with doubt and called nonsense. But Jesus’ promise of life is real, not a spiritual awakening but a physical change; He is transformed into the Christ, a Divine being who can be where two or more are gathered in prayer, He can be in a hospital with the sick and dying, He can be in our churches, He can meet the incarcerated where they are, even those who don’t believe in Him can have the Christ visit them at any moment. The physical embodiment of Jesus is no longer needed, after this moment the Christ is everywhere, all the time, available to everyone, everything and in every dimension. Once Jesus walked among the people of His era, now Christ walks with all.

Don’t look for the living Christ among the dead, call out and Christ will meet you where you are.

Where do you look for Christ? Do you seek unity with Christ?

The physical embodiment of Jesus is no longer needed, after this moment the Christ is everywhere, all the time, available to everyone, everything and in every dimension. Once Jesus walked among the people of His era, now Christ walks with all. Click To Tweet
