John 18:4 – April 15, 2022

Jesus, knowing everything that was going to happen to him, went out and said to them, “Whom are you looking for?” John 18:4 NABRE

Jesus leaves with His disciples to a garden to pray. While He is there Judas and the temple guards come to arrest Him. Jesus greets them asking whom are you looking for? Of course He knows why they have come, they have come for Him.  It is interesting how Jesus never assumes. Someone who is blind will call out to Jesus and Jesus asks what the blind person what he wants. Jesus is approached by many and always wants to know why they have come to Him. It is Jesus question for all of us really, whom are we looking for? Christ wants us to call out to Him, to know He is there to help and provide whatever is needed. Jesus’ entire life is to model a way providing us with knowledge God loves us so much He will do anything for us. God became human, lived among us to say He knows what it is like to be human, to suffer and struggle. God’s love is so generous God always does the difficult thing to say you are mine and I will do it all for you.

If we accept God wants our best then we can find joy, we can enter the kingdom of God with a new consciousness, one that allows us to see God always standing before us, always reaching out to hug us, always walking with us. God’s mercy and grace are all we need to be united with God; as Jesus and the Father are one, we are invited into the same unity. Jesus did not have to die to prove love, He just has to live.

Whom are you looking for? How do you receive God’s love?

God's mercy and grace are all we need to be united with God; as Jesus and the Father are one, we are invited into the same unity. Jesus did not have to die to prove love, He just has to live. Click To Tweet
