Mark 4:30 – January 28, 2022

He said, “To what shall we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable can we use for it?” Mark 4:30 NABRE

Jesus’ mission is to reveal the kingdom of God. It is a kingdom where love reigns supreme, everyone is kind to one another and trusting is normal. Jesus wants us to move toward the kingdom of God and speaks about it constantly. Jesus provides an example of how the kingdom of God grows in us. Jesus uses seed as an example, a person scatters seeds and then watches it grow of its own accord, bearing grain or fruit. Jesus uses a mustard seed, one of the smallest seeds, describing the great plant that grows, birds can dwell in its large branches. Jesus’ focus in these stories is to say if we allow the seed of the kingdom of God to enter us, each one of us individually, but more important all of us as a community of people, the seed will do its work and ultimately a great fruit will be born or a fantastic tree providing life for many. The kingdom of God is created through us, coming together to accept and cooperate with the word of Jesus, so we see others with compassion and empathy, becoming people who care for one another. We have the ability to create the kingdom of God, if we come together every day to live the message of Jesus.

Somehow we have fallen into this idea that Sunday is the time to be overtly with Jesus, which is not a bad thing. But Sunday should just be energy to be with and like Jesus every day. We must become the ones who live like Jesus. We must become people going alone to pray, returning energized to be more like Jesus. We are the ones to accept the seed of the kingdom of God and allow it to grow in our world. Greatness comes from cooperating with Jesus and joining together to live in the kingdom of God. Do little things like cooperate and create great  things.

Do you cooperate with Jesus? Is there seed in you?

We are the ones to accept the seed of the kingdom of God and allow it to grow in our world. Greatness comes from cooperating with Jesus and joining together to live in the kingdom of God. Click To Tweet
