Psalms 62:2 – October 11, 2020

My soul rests in God alone, from whom comes my salvation. Psalms 62:2 NABRE

The psalmist sees God as a rock, claiming God is his refuge and protection against those who seek to undermine him. This psalm describes protection, he repeats that God is the refuge and protection against enemies, speaking on behalf of himself and the people. To reinforce the importance of God’s protection he focuses on the fragility of humanity and God’s power. This psalm is a prayer that is framed as a personal confession of trust in God and the reason for it. This trust is repeated and the psalmist calls others to trust God as well.  In the opening verse the psalmist declares complete trust in God in whom his soul rests and in the recognition that salvation comes from God alone. God is the only source of inner peace and security. Life comes with many storms and difficulties, but trusting in God is the only means to be safe. The world looks at many things as fearful troubles but the one who trust in God laughs at trouble and laughs at what the world considers good for humanity. We need to have no fear of poverty nor a desire for riches, we should not fear death or desire living if it is not to the spiritual good.  All trust in God returns strength, courage, peace and security, there is no fear when you trust God.

Trusting in God we have no further lack of resolve, even if we are naturally weak or the target of enemies, with God our resolve is strong. Trust requires faith and with faith we will trust. It is only God who provides peace that fills us with joy. Trust God and you will live joyfully and see all things as good.

Do you trust God? Do you see inner peace and security in God?

It is only God who provides peace that fills us with joy. Trust God and you will live joyfully and see all things as good. Click To Tweet
