I am prompt, I do not hesitate in observing your commandments. Psalms 119:60 NABRE
This is a psalm used in prayerful meditation. It is the longest psalm in the book of Psalms. The psalm is divided into various verses around the Hebrew alphabet. This verse represents “heth” the eight letter of the Hebrew alphabet and it represents grace and charm. If someone follows in the ways of God, God will grant them grace. It begins by declaring God is where the psalmist will find their portion, their satisfaction in life. The psalmist recognizes they are a reflection of God’s image and their soul has the essence of the sacred. The psalmist gives over to God completely and pleads for mercy. The prayer is to remain always in God’s presence. The psalmist indicates they have examined their ways and turning to God is always the best result. So we read in the quoted verse the psalmist is prompt in observing God’s commandments. Knowing and keeping the Law has been the psalmist’s good fortune. Determining the best way to live, to follow God’s commands and living with a focus on God has been the way to live well and receive grace and charm from God. It is in following God’s advice that we have our best life. Although enemies surround, traps and distractions exist to take the psalmist (and us) away from God, it is best to always remain focused on God and depend on God’s mercy.
We to should look to God for the best way to live. God has sent His Son to give example how to be a servant of the Father and receive God’s glory and grace. We should learn about Jesus, listen to the message He has provided and follow as closely as possible His example. With Christ we can receive grace and charm from God.
