When Jesus saw this he became indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not prevent them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Mark 10:14 NABRE
While teaching, people bring children to Jesus, so they may touch Him and receive a certain grace. Those who see this try to stop the children from bothering Jesus, but Jesus becomes indignant at their stopping. Jesus does not want anyone to prevent them, He indicates the kingdom of God belongs to those who are like children. Children accept so much very easily, depending on their age what they hear is true and they cannot be dissuaded from this truth. Children have a magical consciousness, where they believe in things they hear, especially from parents or authority figures no matter how magical it may seem to adults. Jesus wants us to have this kind of belief and trust, especially from the number one authority, God. Jesus lives in the kingdom of God, a consciousness that has no separation from God or anyone. In order to live in a consciousness where we are in the kingdom of God, we must be one with Christ, the anointed, who declares all people divine. To enter into this kingdom of God we require a great deal of faith and trust in the One who tells us to trust. We must have belief which is almost magical, like a child. As Jesus says the kingdom of God is for those whose belief is unshakable.
We read Jesus is the Way (John 14:6), following Jesus is the way to God. Jesus shows us the way to the kingdom of God, and this comment about childlike belief is the way Jesus shows us to enter the kingdom of God, here and now. The kingdom of God is not something we attain at death, follow the way of Jesus becoming childlike and you will enter it today.
