Proverbs 15:16 – January 16, 2019

Better a little with fear of the LORD than a great fortune with anxiety. Proverbs 15:16 NABRE

Solomon’s wisdom tells us it is better to live with very little but respect God, follow God, call on God than to be rich, to have an abundance without God which will come with worry, anxiety, anxiousness. It reminds me of Jesus multiplication of the loaves and fishes. With two fish and five loaves He fed over five-thousand through God. This is how with God and a little so much more can be done. The greatest example is the start of the church by the twelve apostles. From its start through about three hundred years, we see Christianity transition to the dominant religion of the Roman Empire and thus became the religion of the entire known world. The second half of the proverb is something that can be seen in examples as well, all the money you have can’t accomplish everything. The church founding is an example here as well, it did not require money to make Christianity the religion of the world, in fact with all the money in the world it probably would not have been accomplished. The church requires people and the Holy Spirit to be founded. Often we see people who come into money (win the lottery) discover newly realized family members and friends who are looking for a handout. People with much, without God, need security guards, safes, locks and can even lose their own freedom just to keep what they have secure. Yet, if God was with them they too would be able to trust and be secure through God’s watchful guidance.

If you live for your possessions you are truly shackled to them and not free. To be free you need to be connected to God and not your possessions.

How do you secure your stuff? Where do you place your trust?

If you live for your possessions you are truly shackled to them and not free. To be free you need to be connected to God and not your possessions. Click To Tweet
