Isaiah 43:19 – January 1, 2019

See, I am doing something new! Now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? In the wilderness I make a way, in the wasteland, rivers. Isaiah 43:19 NABRE

Isaiah prophesizes the return of those dispersed and taken captive to Babylon after the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple by King Nebuchadnezzar. God is promising them they will be a new kind of exodus, not like their forefathers who spent years in the desert after their escape from Egypt. Living as slaves and captives seventy years they will be set free to return home, God making a free and easy way for their journey. Wild beasts will honor God, there will be water in the wilderness, rivers in the desert, the path made easy for God’s chosen people. It is a new exodus based on the traditions of the first exodus. The prophet’s words are designed to fill the people with hope that they will soon be able to return home, and also with the energy to undertake the religious restoration of Israel. They are reminded that God never abandons them, in fact God is their constant encourager, always renewing their fervor.

The message from @life.church this week spoke about letting go of your past. Pastor @timdoremus made the point, “If you can’t let go of your past, you can’t take hold of your future.” Like the exiles you need to know the future is good. God is with you and God is making a new way for you. God is trying to tell you there is hope and you should be encouraged. Don’t look back at what you can’t change but look forward. Be encouraged to leap into the call that God has for you in your life. Be encouraged and encourage others. It is not hard to be positive and let people know that you see their beauty. It is a message for a New Year, but you can start anytime.

When was the last time you told someone they are beautiful? When is the last time you heard you are beautiful?

Be encouraged to leap into the call that God has for you in your life. Be encouraged and encourage others. Click To Tweet
