By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples. John 15:8 NABRE
Jesus teaches His disciples about the necessity to be connected to Him. He uses an image of a vine and branches; He is the vine and we are the branches. Attached to Him we can produce fruit, pruned from the vine we are unable to produce anything but death. The fruit we are to produce is the fruit of love. We are to produce good fruit as disciples and in so doing we reveal the Father, in other words we glorify the Father. The Father brings people into communion with Himself through His Son Jesus and through this communion He enables people to produce fruit of love. Through these divinely assisted acts of love, we deepen our communion with Jesus and the Father. The Father is praised and glorified through the lives of Jesus disciples who in turn manifest the Father’s love in others.
We think we know love. We may have experienced romantic love, or the love of a parent child, or even the love of a close friend. This love is a small experience of the love compared to what God provides for us. In order to love as Jesus desires, as God desires, we require divine intervention. We are to love in such a way that all we see we love. We can walk on a crowded street or sit in a crowded restaurant and look around and every person is love for us. Some have had this experience, but it requires communion with God and His divine grace. This is the love we can experience attached to the vine, this love is the fruit we produce, but without God we can not know this love.
Have you experienced a love of everyone you see? Can you imagine loving everyone?
Some have experienced full love, but it requires communion with God and His divine grace. This is the love we can experience attached to the vine, this love is the fruit we produce, but without God we can not know this love.
