John 14:2 – May 13, 2022

In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? John 14:2 NABRE                

Jesus has promised His disciples a place for them in His Father’s house. Jesus often speaks of the temple as being His Father’s house but when Jesus Himself goes away it is because He is no longer an embodiment, He is a resurrected being and He becomes the place where all meet the Father. So, in effect Jesus is saying to His disciples they will have a place in Him, a communion, which depends on the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Jesus can be everywhere as the Christ and He can be everything. As Paul says, “I have become all things to all, to save at least some.” (1 Corinthians 9:22) Christ does the same. For the most part Christ is the place of communion with the Father, He draws all people to Himself and He is one with the Father. Jesus going away to prepare a place for His disciples and us, creates a place of love where we all dwell united in Love.

God’s plan is we will all have a place in His kingdom. God creates us to love and His love for us is so deep He wants to spend all time with us. We don’t have to worry about anything, all we need will be provided by Christ and life will be united with Love. Access to the communion with Christ and the Father begins in this life through faith and an indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
