Luke 18:43 – November 15, 2021

He immediately received his sight and followed him, giving glory to God. When they saw this, all the people gave praise to God. Luke 18:43 NABRE

Jesus travelling towards Jerusalem is called by a blind man begging along the roadside. Jesus stops and asks what he wants from Him. He responds he wants to see. Jesus tells Him, have sight, he is saved by his faith. Jesus not only addresses his sight but his salvation. Jesus declaring his faith has saved him makes you wonder who is performing the healing. Jesus’ presence in the world has created a great deal of excitement and certainly great faith in the people. The excitement Jesus creates infects community after community and brings great hope to the people, it is contagious. As this infection of hope spreads, many people believe in Him, and through Him, God. This belief grows faith in the community and Jesus recognizing this faith discloses to the people their faith is real and saving. As many people are in this bubble of hope and faith the idea of the kingdom of God is being created. We see people calling to Jesus for healing but it is quite possible it is this corporate faith that is bringing healing, in other words each person is healed by their own faith. Jesus never takes credit for healing and we read many times the person healed gives glory to God and all people praise God. The Jesus movement brings this momentum of faith and we read of healing after healing, people of faith trusting a God of mercy and their lives are transformed.

We are called to have this hope. If we can infect each other with hope, we come to believe in the true healing power of God and have a faith that is more like a knowing, we have the same chance to create the kingdom of God. Our faith can heal and save us, corporately.

Do you know others with unshakeable faith? Is your faith like knowing?

If we can infect each other with hope, we come to believe in the true healing power of God and have a faith that is more like a knowing, we have the same chance to create the kingdom of God. Our faith can heal and save us, corporately. Click To Tweet
