Luke 13:10 – October 25, 2021

When Jesus saw her, he called to her and said, “Woman, you are set free of your infirmity.” Luke 13:10 NABRE

Jesus is teaching in a synagogue on the Sabbath and He sees a woman who is disabled by an evil spirit. The woman has been disabled and completely incapable of standing erect for eighteen years. When Jesus sees her He calls to her and tells her she is set free of her infirmity and she immediately stood up straight and glorifies God. Her example is telling in that she knows it is God who has healed her, even though it is Jesus who laid His hand on her and enacts her healing. The leader of the synagogue is upset with Jesus for healing on the Sabbath. The woman knows this cannot be an insult to God because of course God is the one who truly made the miracle happen. Healing is often initiated through some human action but it is not a miracle unless God is the one providing the miracle. Being offended that a miracle occurs on the Sabbath is really thinking as human beings think, more about self power. Jesus tells His friend Peter “…You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do.” (Mark 8:33) It is not really possible to know all of God’s thinking, but there is information; in Scripture, in the created world, in the hearts of faithful people, which allows us to know the mind of God.

Prayer is the most important aspect to knowing the mind of God. In fact it is the purpose of prayer that we come to know God more deeply and more clearly. The more we speak with God the more we know God and knowing when God is speaking to us. Trust God, God wants your best and will tell you. Therefore know God.

Are you constantly trying to know God? Do you see miracles in your life?

The more we speak with God the more we know God and knowing when God is speaking to us. Trust God, God wants your best and will tell you. Therefore know God. Click To Tweet
