And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. John 14:13 NABRE
Using the final days of His presence in the world Jesus continues to teach his disciples truths about His presence and their knowledge of Him. Jesus shares a message that seeing Him we see the Father, everything He says and does comes from the Father and they are One. Jesus proclaims anything asked in His name will be a prayer that is answered. Jesus is so obedient and so radically committed to doing the will of the Father, that Jesus is given prestige and glory at His entry into the Kingdom of Heaven. Asking for something by name, Jesus promises a response. It was common for Jesus in His public ministry to respond to people’s requests, the majority of which were for healing of themselves or a family member. Jesus always responds positively to these requests and not only heals but usually forgives as well. Healing is a major component of the works that Jesus performs recorded in the gospels by His disciples. People ask for help and Jesus helps. This continues into eternity. Asking Jesus to do something, using His name, it will be done. Jesus doesn’t promise this truth because He wants everyone’s prayers to be answered, but He makes this promise because it glorifies the Father. Jesus working in the name of the Father, glory’s God by responding to prayer. Responding to the prayers of those who believe in Jesus and asking by His name is the work He continues to do in the name of the Father, whose will Jesus always represents.
Jesus will tell His disciples doing something out of obedience to Him, will also glory God. All we do in Jesus name provides a witness to the power of God and attracts others to seek Jesus who leads us to the Father. Believe and be free to work miracles in the world.
