He said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and in the prophets and psalms must be fulfilled.” Luke 24:44 NABRE
Jesus appears to His disciples after His resurrection and shows them that He is alive, made of flesh and bones and hungry for food. He reminds them of the words He spoke while still with them, that He was to do everything that was written about Him in the law, and said by prophets and the psalms. Christians tend to think because Jesus came and shared a message that what is written in the Hebrew Scriptures is no longer valid. But in fact Jesus tells us and we believe that the Hebrew scriptures foreshadow Jesus and His message. We can make many ties about Jesus coming in the Hebrew Scriptures. In fact Christian’s likely are dis-servicing Holy Scriptures by separating the books into Old and New testaments. The history of the Hebrews had us on the lookout for a coming Messiah and provided enough “easter eggs” to allow the recognition of Jesus by those early Jewish followers that leads to to an ever growing number of disciples.
