As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him. Psalms 103:13 NABRE
This is a psalm of praise, blessing and thankfulness. This psalmist blesses the Lord, is thankful for forgiveness and healing. The psalmist is grateful for the return of his life and for the Lord’s love and mercy. The psalmist invites the listener to praise the Lord for all they have and for all of creation. This is a psalm showing God’s love is revealed through justice (salvation) for all the oppressed. God through all history reveals His love through saving and providing for His people. We read that God is our father and as any father has compassion for his children, so does the Lord. The compassion is realized in those who fear the Lord, meaning those who respect God and all His power, wisdom, commands and returns His love. The psalm goes on to point out the great differences between God, creator of all the universe, He can make a tree from nothing, make a world from nothing more than His thoughts, He can create humanity from a little dust of the earth. And despite the immensity of God, that same human is loved by God as if that human is more important than anything else God has created. God loves us all equally but uniquely. The bigness of God is not so big that He can’t watch over and care for the littleness of man. Even when we do things to separate ourselves from God, God still remains near. waiting for us to seek forgiveness and return to Him.
We must look to God for all that is good, and accept His love. We should take God’s love and salvation and bring it to those separated from God. Find a way to touch the heart of another human so they too will turn toward God with praise, thanks and love.
Do you turn to God daily? Do you witness a Godly life to others so they may come to God?
We must look to God for all that is good, and accept His love. We should take God's love and salvation and bring it to those separated from God.
