For through faith you are all children of God in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. Paul writing to Galatia moves from law to faith. Now that faith has come believers no longer need to depend on the law to lead them to Jesus. Paul connects the highest dignity possible on believers through faith, they have become children of God. This dignity is not restricted to the chosen people, it is for everyone with faith. For the Jews the situations has changed and along with the change for the Jew there is also a change for every human being. Being a child of God does not mean we do not still need to learn and move closer to God in love and knowledge, but it does mean that we cannot fall to the condemnation of the law. Paul speaks of baptism which is the means that the believers enter into relationship with Christ. Baptism is the concrete expression of entering into a faith relationship with Christ. Faith follows the example of Christ, it has an incarnation and therefore has a bodily expression, as well as being dedicated to a creed and having a religious experience. Baptism brings the whole being of the believer, body, soul and spirit into relationship with the body of Christ. Paul is making the bold claim that being in the body of Christ means there is no distinction between, Jew nor Gentile, slave or free, male or female, all are one in Christ.
In Christ we are all one, we are all children of God. Though there may seem to be a plurality of children of God, in Christ there is unity, there is only one body of Christ.
