Psalms 95:1-2 – November 20, 2019

Come, let us sing joyfully to the LORD; cry out to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with a song of praise, joyfully sing out our psalms. Psalms 95:1-2 NABRE

Psalm Ninety-five is a song of praise to God. The psalm twice calls people to praise the Lord. It calls the Lord king of all creation, shepherd of the flock, the rock who saves us. We should bow down and worship before the Lord, He is our God and we are his people. We should listen to the voice of the Lord. At a certain time in history there were those who were stubborn and did not listen to Him but rather challenged Him and provoked Him. We are warned to be more faithful than these ancestors on the journey to the Promised Land. This psalm is sung many places every day as an invitation to worship before God. In the prayers known as the Liturgy of the Hours or Christian Prayer this psalm is the opening invitation to that prayer time. It readies the prayerful person to praise God, to learn God is ready to help and that we should definitely avoid challenging the Lord. For those who have strong faith this psalm summarizes the message of God, He should be praised, we should trust him to lead us, and we must never doubt His ways, He is a God who only wishes our best.

In worshiping God we come closer to Him. God is a God who listens and then offers a response. We will not always get all we want but God will give us what is best for us. God will lead us on a journey as He did those Israelites whom he freed from Egypt, protecting us and making sure we end up in the Promised Land.

Do you praise and worship the Lord for all he has done in your life? Will you trust the Lord to provide all you need and all that is best for you?

In worshiping God we come closer to Him. God is a God who listens and then offers a response. We will not always get all we want but God will give us what is best for us. Share on X
