Luke the gospel writer is telling the story of the Angel Gabriel appearing to Mary and telling her she has found favor with God and he would like to tell her she will conceive a son who will be called Jesus. Mary wonders how it could be and immediately says yes to the angel’s request. In the process Gabriel tells Mary about her cousin Elizabeth who had conceived in her old age. It must have been well know that Elizabeth could not conceive, hearing the news Mary is seemingly elated an will travel immediately to visit and help her cousin. In telling Mary about Elizabeth the angel informs Mary, “nothing will be impossible for God.” In the next months this is proven true as Elizabeth gives birth to John and Mary conceives through the power of the Holy Spirit and gives birth to Jesus. Nothing is impossible for God, creator of the universe and all that is in it, visible and invisible. God who has chosen us as beloved and among the most precious of all His creation, makes this ability for anything to be possible available to us.
We should be aware that God wants the best for us and wants us to be close to Him and in His favor as Mary was when she received the angel. God who can do anything is ready to hear our desires and needs; open to respond in our best interest. We only need to have faith in God, and grow closer to Him as we journey through life. God wants to hear from you, as His beloved He is ready to receive you, immediately and totally.
