The LORD is near to all who call upon him, to all who call upon him in truth. Psalms 145:18 NABRE
Psalm one-hundred forty-five is a psalm of praise to God who is great, merciful and His kingdom lasts forever. It opens and closes with promises to praise the LORD. It describes three motivations for this praise; 1) the greatness of the LORD, 2) the goodness of the LORD; 3) the LORD’s everlasting kingdom. When we praise the LORD we are saying to others this is someone who impresses us, who we believe deserves special testimony and treatment. This is true of the LORD, who is a friend to be shared and one in whom we should always remain very close. We have a good feeling about God because he is great, performing mighty deeds, everything from the creation of the universe to bringing a seedling out of the ground, no one can do the things God does. We have a good feeling about God because he is good, nothing evil gets near God and there is nothing that we can fault in God. We have a good feeling about God because God’s kingdom never ends and we are invited to be part of that kingdom, living forever. Therefore always call upon the Lord and keep Him near. If you want a friend in God, keeping Him near, then ask and ask in truth. There is so much God will do for us if we ask.
Do you struggle with something; money, friendships, grief, addiction, anger, anything? We all have dark days, times when we are down. Some days we don’t even know why. Spend time with God. “It has been found that 12 minutes of daily focused prayer over an 8-week period can change the brain to such an extent that it can be measured on a brain scan.” Dr. Caroline Leaf, author of Switch In Your Brain. Call upon the Lord and let your friend take away your struggles and bring you to peace.
Do you praise God, letting others see your praise? Do you call upon the LORD for everything?
