Galatians 6:10 – September 21, 2018

So then, while we have the opportunity, let us do good to all, but especially to those who belong to the family of the faith. Galatians 6:10 NABRE

The Letter to the Galatians reveals a teaching on the grace of Christ. The great theme of the letter is the glory of the grace of God and that we must realize we cannot save ourselves, we are dependent on God. Chapter six of the letter is the closing chapter with Paul encouraging us to support one another who are brothers and sisters in Christ. We should carry one another’s burdens, we should be sure to do our own work and know there is only glory in the cross. Know that if you sow sin then corruption will be returned but if we sow goodness eternal life will be returned. The quoted verse turns back to doing good, for all, but especially for those in the family of faith. When we do good non-followers will look at us and see the good we do as honoring Jesus. Paul also tells us to be sure to support one another, to come together and grow together, share burdens together and success together. As a family of faith we succeed and grow as one. God needs this unity to have a wave of disciples leading the way. It is only together that we Christians can have an impact on the world. Together we are world changers.

There are times when we think members of our church or team are the competition, if they succeed we view it as us failing. In the Kingdom of God this is never true. All must succeed and in so doing God’s plan for humanity can succeed. Look toward your brother and sister and demonstrate your love for them by shouldering their burdens and rejoicing in their success.

Do you see all other followers of Jesus as a brother or sister? Do you congratulate others or does their success make you envious?

All must succeed and in so doing God’s plan for humanity can succeed. Look toward your brother and sister and demonstrate your love for them by shouldering their burdens and rejoicing in their success. Click To Tweet
