that he may grant you in accord with the riches of his glory to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner self, Ephesians 3:16 NABRE
Paul is praying for those who read his words. He begins, I kneel before the Father and asks God to bring strength and power from the Spirit of God as an inner fortitude. Paul is aware we need to be strong within to accomplish external success. Of course, Paul is not praying for the reader to be rich and famous, but to be powerful in the message of Christ, to bring peace to others and to stand with others when they need accompaniment. Paul wants everyone to know Christ who is with each person and provides inner strength when we depend on Him. Paul desires the spread of Christ message to all those who gather in assembly at the reading of his letter, but today it is for all who hear the message of Christ. If you have inner strength, you will find peace and you will accomplish much in the name of goodness and love.
Inner strength begins with recognizing beauty and good. We often are awakened to a reality of evil and bad and it overshadows all that is good. Even today those who call themselves church going Christians focus more on winning politically and judging others who do not think like them. This is not the message of Christ. Jesus says go and sin no more, not so we aren’t judged but so we have peace, but in saying it, Jesus is harder on the judger than the one who is accused of sinning. Whenever we put ourselves above others we are pulling away from God. We should kneel like Paul and pray for others to have inner strength from the Spirit of God, and help them when the ask.
Do you kneel and pray for others? Can you love others despite their deeds?
Jesus is harder on the judger than the one who is accused of sinning. Whenever we put ourselves above others we are pulling away from God. We should kneel like Paul and pray for others to have inner strength from the Spirit of God.
