And I have given them the glory you gave me, so that they may be one, as we are one, John 17:22 NABRE
Jesus spends time in prayer about His disciples. He speaks to God, the Father as if in conversation and His words allow us to see how He prays. Jesus depends on God; He is not expecting to be the one to watch over, taking care of the mission and life of His disciples, rather He depends on God and in prayer asks God to take care of them. Jesus also speaks about glory, something which is difficult for us to understand. It is somehow through this glory that Jesus is united with God and sharing this glory with His disciples He allows them to be united with God. To be united with God requires a special communion. Union with God is heaven, it is what we all seek. But communion with God requires a special grace, we receive grace from God or in this case Jesus passes along the glory He received from God to His disciples, it is their grace to be united. This glory and the communion with God make Jesus and God one, and it brings the disciples into this oneness. It seems difficult to understand why being one is so important but it is through unity with God that we are made whole.
Death is not natural, we live with this eternity inside us and we are never prepared for death, for ourselves and especially for those we love. We are not created to die, to be separated from one another or God. Jesus has come to give us glory and make us one, thus we may be united to Love forever. We should never lose what we love, especially to death. Allow Jesus to give you glory.
Do you desire to be whole, all losses reunited? Do you seek heaven?
Jesus has come to give us glory and make us one, thus we may be united to Love forever. We should never lose what we love, especially to death. Allow Jesus to give you glory. Share on X
