But God proves his love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 NABRE
Paul is speaking to the community in Rome about God’s love. There is a saying I have heard from multiple authors and preachers. “It is not if you change, I will love you, but if I love you, you will change.” God lives this truth. Before the moment when Jesus dies and rose for our life, God was proving His love over and over again even before anyone would be worthy of His love and aid. Paul recognizing God’s love for His children tells them that God proves His love for us; while we were still sinners Christ died for us. God in fact is love and no matter how we live God pushes nothing but His love toward us. In God’s plan parents show nothing but love for their children. While there are times when parents will discipline their children, there is nothing their kids could do to stop the love of their parents in a healthy relationship. God is so much more loving then our own parents and shows love in deeper ways than our on parents. In providing a means to redeem us God sent His Son to die and rise paving a path that will make us righteous and fill us with the Spirit of life.
God’s provision for love is something we should imitate. We are all searching for meaning and significance, but shouldn’t depend on others for hope and joy. However as disciples of God we can show others the face of God through our love. No matter how our love is received or if we feel it is having an impact in others’ lives, we should never stop loving. We are the only ones who can prove God’s love today, we are the face of God’s love to others, even sinners.
Have you experienced undeserved love? Do you love others as God loves you?
As disciples of God we can show others the face of God through our love. No matter how our love is received or if we feel it is having an impact in others’ lives, we should never stop loving.
