Jesus teaches His disciples about the Advocate, the Holy Spirit. Jesus indicates He must go so the Father can send the Advocate who will lead them, remind them of all Jesus taught and provide tools needed to take the message forward. The Holy Spirit is the power of God acting in the world, leading people to their best life and the message of God. Whenever we feel like we have had a spiritual experience it is likely the Holy Spirit has moved in our life in some way. Jesus adds an interesting line saying He tells them this while He is with them. This would seem obvious but with Jesus there can always be more to look at when interpreting His message. Of course, there is a thought that says if He has to tell us things while He is still with us, there must be more He will tell us when He is no longer with us. Which of course is a message Jesus has left with us, saying, where two or three gather in my name, I am in their midst (Matthew 18:20.) What distinguishes things Jesus tells us while He is here and what we hear from Him later may be the difference between general information and specific personal information meant to aid us alone. We must be aware Jesus always desires we have the information needed to live our best life with peace and joy.
However, understanding the message of Jesus we should be aware it is a message meant for us individually and corporately. Jesus teaches we should live united in community; it is why He tells us to meet together to bring Him into our midst. But we can also be informed by Jesus personally through the Advocate sent by God. We are never left alone and if we reach out for help it will be given us.
