Matthew 7:9-10 – February 25, 2021

Which one of you would hand his son a stone when he asks for a loaf of bread, or a snake when he asks for a fish? Matthew 7:9-10 NABRE

Sometimes the teaching of Jesus is so simple and clear no words need to be added. Therefore maybe I should leave these words of Jesus alone, but of course I will not and prove Jesus simple words are always better than my added explanations. Even a human father with numerous faults would never give his son a useless stone when he asks for some bread or a harmful snake when he asks for some fish. Imagine our good Father who is totally untouched by evil and loves us so much His heart desires our presence every minute; how much good He will do for His children. We have a Father in heaven who is bursting with more love and a Godly sense of doing good things for us if we only ask. Receiving the impossible always happens unless we don’t ask.

This simpleness of Jesus teaching needs to apply to all we think, read and do, in life, as a child of God. We may hear a teaching how God may condemn us to a life and death of misery if we don’t make a few simple acclamations or follow a particular path. I am a father who remembers a time my daughter said to me, “I don’t think there is anything I could do that you would ever stop loving me.” I was very complimented by her words. Always be a father or mother who desires another’s best, even if they are not your child. No matter what has happened, what hurtful words might have been spoken, or any damaging acts we might do to one another; we should always desire to mend a relationship, encourage healing, and act lovingly. When you are with people, be like your heavenly Father, put them first, treat them with love and love them as the One who is boundless love.

Do you trust the love of your Creator? What could a child of yours do to be eliminated from your life?
