John 10:28 – April 21, 2020

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish. No one can take them out of my hand. John 10:28 NABRE

Jesus was in Jerusalem for the feast of the Dedication. He was spending time in the temple area. Some of the Jews asked him to speak plainly about being the Messiah, they want to know if He is and if so tell them so. Jesus says He has told them but they do not believe. His works He does in the Father’s name testifies to Him. Only those who belong to Him, those given to Him by the Father hear what Jesus says and follow. Jesus goes on to say He has given them eternal life, they will never perish and no one will ever be able to take them away from Him. Jesus knows those who believe in Him and live a personal relationship with Him. Jesus disciples know that He is the Messiah because they know Him personally through faith. They believe and Jesus in turn promises they (we) will be with Him forever, nothing could separate us from the love of God. Paul says, “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor present things, nor future things, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39) This promise is fulfilled in Jesus’ death and resurrection. We who have died in the belief of Jesus, rise with Jesus at the resurrection and we can never be separated from Jesus under any circumstances.

In fact once we accept Jesus in our life, once we believe, the only way we can ever be separated from Him is if we walk away on our own. The evil one cannot even force this separation, all he can do is tempt us away. So believe in Jesus and the Father, you will become one with them and never be separated from all that is good.

Do you believe? Is your faith strong?
