Luke is sharing Jesus’ speech about the second coming. Jesus has promised He will come again and the world will be different. There will be things we know and there will be things we don’t know. There won’t be legal issues and laws that we have to deal with to keep a civil society. Our bodies will be resurrected and they will no longer die. Jesus proves resurrection when he dies and returns to life. Jesus tells us we too will have resurrected bodies, knowing Him. Jesus Second Coming will make the perishable imperishable and the mortal immortal. It is a great promise. Death will be no more, it will be swallowed up as if it never existed. Jesus tells His disciples this moment will come with signs, and by seeing the signs we should get ready, we should stand erect and raise our hands as a sign of Worship. Jesus’ redemption is at hand and it will last forever! This redeemed world will be a place where love is at the center and all will be renewed. All will be put right as it once was, what is wrong will be right. The resurrection at Jesus Second Coming includes the resurrection of the body which will be reunited with our soul and we will be made whole again. This is the whole message of the gospel, the good news is Jesus came to prove the resurrection and be the first to accomplish it.
When we see the signs of Jesus Second Coming we should stand tall, which means we need to live our life as followers of Jesus, sharing the message of resurrection and the hope we have in Jesus. Living life as a follower of Jesus comes with many perks, the most important of these is resurrected life.
