2 Chronicles 7:14 – May 16, 2019

if then my people, upon whom my name has been pronounced, humble themselves and pray, and seek my face and turn from their evil ways, I will hear them from heaven and pardon their sins and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 NABRE

In Chapter 7 of 2 Chronicles we read of the dedication of Solomon’s Temple to God and God’s presence telling the people that He won’t leave them. In reply to Solomon’s dedication God tells Solomon he has chosen this place for Himself and a house of sacrifice. God mean’s the temple to be a symbol of His protection of the people as long as it stands and the symbol of their punishment once it is destroyed. The Temple is a symbol of the Lord’s presence. He is always ready to listen to their needs and come to the aid of those who call out to Him. God invites them to put their trust in Him. God declares that these are His people, whom He has told His name. God asks the people to be humble and pray, seeking the face of God and turning from evil ways. God tells them He will hear them from Heaven, pardon their sins and heal their land. God doesn’t just say this to the Jews at the time of the dedication of the temple, God says these words to us, yesterday, today and tomorrow. God chooses the Jews, makes them the select to let us know what it can be like for us. We can choose God and God chooses us.

We are precious to God and He promises to always hear us and respond to our prayers. God also wants us to be humble and pray that we may see the face of God and turn from our evil ways. God teaches forgiveness and love. He always has it for us and He tells us we will be happier if we too follow these teachings.

Do you trust God? Do you call on God as much as possible?
