Psalm 100:4 – November 22, 2018

Enter his gates with thanksgiving, his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his name; Psalms 100:4 NABRE

This small Psalm 100 is an invitation to praise and serve God. It begins making a joyful noise for the LORD and then calling for service in the LORD with gladness as we enter His presence. We are invited to know the LORD. To know God in the language of bible is to have an intimate recognition of who God is and what his will is for ourselves and the world. We know God as our maker, and we are His people, we are invited to sleep in His house. In the verse quoted above we are invited to enter God’s home with thanksgiving and praise, give Him thanks and bless His name! In the final verse we are invited to serve the LORD. This psalm is a simple profession of faith. Serve, thank, praise, bless, it is a simple four word prayer. Serving the LORD is a way to be in the LORD’s presence, always helping the LORD. Thanking God for all we have and for all that is to come, is acknowledging that we are totally dependent on God. Praising the LORD is to let all know our God is the God of the universe who provides all. Blessing God’s name is respect, we reverence the name of the LORD as holy and sacred. This could be the conclusion to every prayer. Lord we serve you in love, thank you for all, praise your glory and bless your holy name. Amen

On a day of Thanksgiving let us always remember to thank the One to whom we owe our all. In everything we do, there is the LORD, in everything we love there is the LORD, in all we have to be thankful for, there is the Lord. Count your blessings, acknowledge your Lord, and hug those who you love and love you in return. In all things serve, thank, praise and bless the Lord.

What are you thankful for today? Who can you pray for today?
